Research Interests
My research interests focus on transportation infrastructure that affects everyday mobility, especially facilities used by people walking, biking, rolling, or using other small-scale modes. I am particularly interested in practical ways to measure conditions on shared-use paths and similar facilities where common roadway evaluation methods do not fully capture the user experience.
One current area of interest is the TREAD project, a trailer-based system for assessing pathway surface roughness using low-cost sensors, imagery, and location data. The larger goal is to support more consistent, objective, and useful condition assessment for agencies managing trails and other multimodal corridors.
